A Day in the Garden

Sorry for the lack of posts.  All this week the internet has been exceptionally slow.  Slow like I want to light my head on fire and run down the street screaming while punching myself in the face.  You get the idea.  And I have so much to write about too!  Oh, the tragedy.  There would probably be more pictures of the gardens, but I just can’t deal with trying to uploading any more pictures, so what you see is what you get.  For now.

Last week I made short visit to the Botanical Gardens here in Xi’an. It’s literally right around the corner from my school so I thought “why not?” Gardens have not always been my thing, I’m more of a big park with mountains and lakes and stuff kind of guy, but something so convenient can’t just be passed up. Since coming to China I have been living a mantra of “get out there and see as much stuff as you can and do as many exciting, new things as you can.” I think so far it’s working out pretty well. I have had some great adventures and there are still so many more to come.

Anyway, I think it’s better to just show you some pictures from the garden. I think showing it is way more effective than describing it. How do you describe the peaceful serenity of flowers waving in the wind, or the most vibrant colors of the rainbow on display before your very eyes? OK, so the waving in the wind part is hard to do with a picture, but I still think it is easier/better than writing about it.

At 15 RMB a person I think it’s a great way to kill an hour or two if you find yourself without much to do.  For those on a tight schedule there are plenty of other “more important” or “culturally rich” things to see in Xi’an (I’ll be writing about that soon, barring the internet doesn’t try to make me kill myself).  But for those of you who are not (i.e. me) then the Botanical Gardens is a very nice experience.

Enjoy.

ah, no I didn’t. I’ll have to go back sometime and look. I did particularly enjoy the wedding set though. It seems kind of strange and out of place, but makes sense in a way. When I was there there was a bunch of people taking photos for a wedding, so I didn’t want to be the creepy guy taking pictures of people taking pictures of people in wedding attire. Other than that the flowers were awesome. I think I’ll go back in a while to see how it’s changed. Should be interesting.

Great pictures again Graham. I especially like the first one… that’s a great contrast between the purple/orange. See…. it’s “the eye”. :)

@Linz: I’m glad you like, I was particularly happy with that one, though I think I may have screwed with the color balance too much. Oh well, lesson learned. I’m still not convinced that I have “the eye” (I have two, actually, but it’s questionable how well they work) but thank you for the compliment nonetheless.

@Chris: Cheers dude!
